Birth

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born at Shivneri. His mother Jijabai instilled in him the ideals of dharma, self-rule and courage through the epics from his earliest years.

His father Shahaji was a noble in the service of the Adilshahi of Bijapur. The young Shivaji was raised in the Pune jagir under the guidance of Dadoji Konddev.
