How we source, verify and correct the content on ShivJayanti.com — in the open.
Content about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s history is emotionally and culturally sensitive. That is why accuracy, source discipline and public accountability are the three pillars of everything we publish. The five principles below are how we operationalise that commitment.
Our principles
Primary sources first
Every historical claim — date, name, place — is first cross-checked against a primary bakhar, an archival record, or a recognised academic work. Modern social-media posts, forwards, or oral traditions are never used as the sole source.
Two-source verification
Where possible, every fact is verified against at least two independent sources. When sources disagree, we publish both the claim we chose and the disagreement itself — we do not paper over conflict.
Visible citations
On pillar pages, each date-based claim carries an inline citation. On other pages, a shared list of sources appears at the foot of the article.
Annual review cadence
Every year before Shiv Jayanti, pillar pages (like /2027) are re-verified. Fort and battle pages are reviewed at least once a year. A visible ‘Last verified’ date appears on every article.
Transparent corrections
When we find an error we correct it, then publish both the original claim and the correction in our public corrections log. Content is never quietly rewritten — the change is visible.
AI use — responsibly
AI tools are used to draft, translate, and summarise. But every fact is verified by a human editor before publication. AI-generated imagery or claims will be clearly labelled when used.

Primary bakhars, cited Wikipedia references, and recognised published works are selected as source material for the topic.

Drafting
The author drafts the article in both Marathi and English, grounded in the selected sources.

Verification
Every date, name and claim is rechecked; any source disagreement is documented.

Publication
The page ships with a visible author byline, verification date, and a link to the sources it draws from.

Review & corrections
Reader feedback and new sources drive updates; every substantive change is logged publicly.
